The Art of Huatulquear

This space began as I Love Hux, but several years ago, I reached a point when I knew it was time for it to evolve.

I created this little corner on Facebook more than ten years ago, looking for a way to stay close to my beautiful Huatulco during the time I had to leave home to study elsewhere.

Sharing events and photographs of Huatulco, accompanied by my own words, and seeing how they resonated with others thrilled me and lit something up inside me.

I remember sitting in a café in Mexico City with Yara, a lawyer specializing in copyright law. She asked me how long I had been using the name and whether I felt attached to it, because another platform with a similar name had appeared. I told her I didn’t mind changing it; I hadn’t yet taken the page to a professional level anyway. Then she asked me: “What is your page? What are you looking for?”
I told her, “It’s a space to talk about my home, about everything I love about it: its people, its places, what’s new, what’s old, and what’s happening now.” And as we threw names into the air, looking for the right one, Huatulquear and Huatulqueando emerged.

The moment we heard them, we knew the second one was it. We looked at each other and celebrated with a knowing smile. At the time, Yara was deeply committed to supporting young women entrepreneurs, and there was something very real in that smile.

Huatulquear is a verb. Huatulqueando speaks of an action. It means wandering, seeing,
feeling, connecting, being present, simply being. And that is how my platform expanded: by connecting with you, on the other side of the screen. Today, I realize that the more authentic I am, the more I dare to say what moves me deep inside, the more deeply I connect with others. In a time when everything is measured in numbers, I’ve noticed that the posts that reach the most people are often the ones where I went deeper—or simply shared something that moved me spontaneously.

Today, I’m willing to make sure that what you find on my site becomes increasingly authentic, and from that authenticity, becomes content that you genuinely enjoy. I’ve always loved writing, which is why, for years, I’ve had this pending dream of creating a space where I could do it in a different format.

Here, I’ll share articles about the things that move me, some connected to Huatulco, others simply connected to life itself. I’d love to hear from you, to read your stories, and to know what Huatulquear means to you. Because I know that everyone has a story about their love for this place.
